Como Hotels and Resorts continues to strengthen its presence in Italy, with Puglia emerging as the group’s next development target. According to CEO Olivier Jolivet, the Singapore-based luxury hospitality company expects to open a new property in the region by next year. Although the hotel has not yet been identified publicly, negotiations have already reached an advanced stage. Therefore, Italy remains one of the company’s highest strategic priorities in Europe.
The group already operates two Italian luxury properties: Como Castello del Nero in Tuscany and Como Alpina Dolomites in South Tyrol. Moreover, Italy marked the brand’s first expansion into the European market. The company follows a long-term investment strategy based on direct property acquisitions rather than management agreements. As a result, it retains full control over renovations, positioning, and guest experience. This approach also allows the brand to preserve its distinctive identity while enhancing the long-term value of each asset.
Beyond Puglia, Como Hotels and Resorts has identified the Langhe wine region as another promising destination. Although the company has not selected a specific property yet, management confirmed its strong interest in Alba and the surrounding territory. Furthermore, Sicily and Cortina d’Ampezzo remain attractive opportunities for future investments. These destinations perfectly match the brand’s focus on unique landscapes, authentic experiences, and high-end leisure travel.
On the other hand, expansion into Italy’s four largest cities appears less likely. Milan, Rome, Florence, and Venice certainly attract international luxury demand. However, suitable investment opportunities remain scarce. Since the company insists on acquiring hotel assets directly, available properties rarely satisfy its size, location, and quality requirements. Consequently, Como Hotels and Resorts continues to prioritize destinations where acquisition opportunities align with its investment philosophy.
The strategy has already delivered measurable results. Following the acquisition and repositioning of Como Alpina Dolomites, the property increased its turnover by approximately 40 percent. Likewise, Como Castello del Nero achieved a revenue increase of around 25 percent after joining the portfolio. These performances demonstrate how targeted acquisitions and carefully planned renovations can significantly enhance operational results. Looking ahead, the planned expansion into Puglia confirms Como Hotels and Resorts’ commitment to growing its Italian portfolio while focusing on distinctive luxury destinations with strong long-term potential.
