The Meliá Collection Rome hotel will open in 2027 through a new partnership between Meliá Hotels International and Gruppo Stay. Located on Via XX Settembre, near Via Veneto, the property will feature 67 rooms. Moreover, the hotel will offer a restaurant, a bar, a rooftop bar and a wellness area. The project marks another step in both companies’ expansion strategies.
The new hotel represents the third collaboration between the Spanish hotel group and Gruppo Stay. Previously, the partners developed Auronzo Dolomites and Pozza di Fassa Dolomiti Affiliated by Meliá. Through this latest agreement, Gruppo Stay has signed a franchise contract to join the Meliá Collection brand. Consequently, the partnership strengthens Meliá’s presence in the Italian capital.
Gruppo Stay, based in Cortina d’Ampezzo, belongs entirely to Swiss holding company United Touristic Group Holding. In 2025, the operator generated more than €14 million in revenue, representing a 40% increase year on year. Furthermore, EBITDA reached €2.7 million, up 30% compared with 2024.
According to the Chain Hotels Database, Gruppo Stay operates ten three- and four-star properties across Italy. Its portfolio includes six hotels in Veneto, one each in Milan and Turin, and two in Trentino-Alto Adige. Altogether, these properties provide more than 470 rooms.
Meanwhile, Meliá expects to operate 19 hotels in Italy by the end of 2026. These properties will comprise more than 2,200 rooms across nine regions, including Sardinia, Veneto, Lombardy and Lazio. In addition, the group has two hotels in its development pipeline.
Besides the new Roman property, the pipeline includes a hotel in Lerici developed in partnership with Soges. Therefore, the Meliá Collection Rome hotel will contribute to the brand’s continued growth in Italy. At the same time, the agreement reinforces Gruppo Stay’s strategy of expanding through international hotel partnerships.
