Ritz-Carlton debuts in Italy on Lake Como

Marriott’s iconic brand lands in our country through a major conversion of the former Hotel Grande Bretagne in Bellagio.

Ritz-Carlton, Marriott’s luxury brand, has announced its debut in our country with the conversion of the former Hotel Grande Bretagne in Bellagio.

The hotel will have 59 rooms and 46 suites, including two luxurious Ritz-Carlton suites, a spa with indoor pool, restaurants, and meeting and event spaces. Extensive parks and gardens will complement the offerings with a meditation garden, a historic walking trail, a large outdoor pool, and a private pier to allow guests access to other locations on the lake. It is scheduled to open in 2026.

With an area of 16,500 square meters, the redevelopment will be the most important development project in the hospitality sector in recent years in the Lake Como area.

The transaction was overseen by Colliers Italia as property advisor, Studio MHZ Architettura as technical advisor, Studio Villa as legal advisor, Mercorio Maiocco Valentini & Partners as tax advisor, and Gianni & Origoni firm as legal advisor to Marriott.
