Palazzo Genazzini will reopen in Bellagio on June 1 following the repositioning of the former Hotel Metropole. The historic Lake Como property now enters the market as a refined four-star destination with a strong heritage identity. Moreover, the redevelopment combines luxury hospitality with careful architectural preservation.
The Crippa family’s holding company, T-Plus, acquired the hotel in 2022 for €32.4 million. Shortly afterward, the group launched an extensive renovation project together with Francesco Pastorelli Architetti and Reveria. As a result, Palazzo Genazzini now offers 35 rooms instead of the previous 42. The new layout includes 20 suites spread across four floors, creating a more exclusive guest experience.
In addition, the hotel features the Genazzini 1788 restaurant, which welcomes both travelers and local visitors. Guests can also enjoy two bars, including a rooftop venue overlooking Lake Como. Furthermore, the new name honors the Genazzini family, which purchased the building in 1788.
Palazzo Genazzini also preserves many original architectural elements connected to Bellagio’s historic identity. The renovation team restored historic frescoes and the palace’s monumental stone staircase. At the same time, the project maintained the original façade and color palette to protect the town’s skyline.
Landscape architect Roberto Benatti curated the outdoor areas and drew inspiration from the gardens of Gertrude Jekyll. Therefore, the terraces and green spaces create a strong connection with the surrounding natural scenery. Thanks to this repositioning, Palazzo Genazzini strengthens Bellagio’s luxury hospitality offer while celebrating the destination’s historical legacy and Grand Tour tradition.
