Cheval Blanc Pitrizza Set to Open in May 2027

Cheval Blanc Pitrizza is expected to open next May, marking the completion of a rebranding project that has taken around a year longer than initially planned. The luxury hotel, owned by Smeralda Holding, will become the first property of the LVMH brand in Italy.

The arrival of Cheval Blanc on the Costa Smeralda follows a landmark agreement signed around three years ago between LVMH and Smeralda Holding. The partnership covers the management of two prestigious Sardinian hotels: Romazzino, which joined the Belmond portfolio in 2024, and Pitrizza. However, LVMH has not yet officially confirmed the opening date. May therefore remains an indicative target rather than a definitive deadline.

According to international press reports published last March, renovation works had already covered approximately 80% of the guest rooms. Meanwhile, the project continued with the redesign of the spa and the development of a new fine-dining restaurant. Cheval Blanc has introduced partnerships with brands such as Guerlain and Dior at other properties to enhance its wellness experiences. However, the group has not announced any similar collaboration for Pitrizza. The identity of the chef overseeing the hotel’s food and beverage offering also remains undisclosed.

Originally designed in 1963 by architect Luigi Vietti, the property will feature 49 rooms and suites, alongside 16 villas, most of which will include private pools. Furthermore, guests will have access to a private beach and a seawater swimming pool carved into the granite. The resort will also offer a spa and several food and beverage outlets.

Once completed, Cheval Blanc Pitrizza will become the brand’s seventh hotel worldwide. The portfolio currently includes three properties in France, as well as destinations in the Caribbean, the Maldives and Seychelles. Its opening will therefore mark an important milestone for the brand’s expansion into the Italian luxury hospitality market.
