Belmond Group, specialized in luxury tourism (and now headed by LVMH), continues its expansion in Portofino.

The group, already owner of the Splendido and Splendido Mare hotels and shortly after purchasing the Fiore di Paraggi baths in the Santa Margherita Ligure area, has now formalized the acquisition of Villa Beatrice (formerly Castello Odero), a historic building of the twentieth century, designed by the architect Gino Coppedè.

Villa Beatrice overlooks the sea above Punta Caiega and had so far been already on the market as a residence for exclusive holidays. The property consists of a 6,000 sqm garden, a swimming pool, and a terrace, all overlooking the sea. A double entrance gives access to one four bedroom, and four double bedrooms, all with private bathroom. A fifth double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom is also available in a small garden house (near the swimming pool), for a total of 10 guests capacity. However, its conversion into a hotel is still in the planning stage, to the point that the company has not yet provided any details on the building’s renovation plans.

Belmond official press release does not indeed disclose the details of the operation but, according to what was reported last May from the Secolo XIX press agency, the value of the transaction should be around EUR 50 million.

We recall that, last March, the company had also acquired Masseria Le Taverne in Ostuni (20 keys).
