WorldHotels Backdrop Italy will debut with two glamping resorts on Procida, in the Gulf of Naples. The new BWH Hotels brand focuses on upscale outdoor hospitality. Procida Camp & Resort Ciraccio and Procida Camp & Resort La Caravella will offer 41 units combined. Guests will find sea-view lodges, tiny houses and Airstream trailers. Mediterranean gardens will surround the accommodation.
WorldHotels launched Backdrop shortly before summer 2026 with two properties in the United States. However, the group also sees strong potential in Italy. President Ron Pohl highlighted Tuscany, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia. He also identified the Dolomites and northern Italian lakes as suitable destinations for upscale glamping.
Meanwhile, BWH Hotels continues to expand its WorldHotels portfolio across Italy. Recent additions include Sublimis Boutique Hotel in Camogli, which joined the Elite collection. Terme San Michele & Spa in Ischia also joined the WorldHotels Distinctive collection.
Several new additions are on the horizon. Horizon Wellness & Spa in Varese will contribute 63 rooms. Villa La Personala will add 12 rooms in the countryside near Mirandola, in the Modena area. This historic country residence developed around a twelfth-century tower.
In Venice, renovation work continues at Savoia & Jolanda. The Elite collection property is undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment.
Pohl recently reaffirmed Italy’s strategic importance to WorldHotels. The group aims to strengthen its presence in southern Italy, especially Sicily, Puglia, Campania and Sardinia. It also plans to expand in major gateway cities such as Rome. Secondary destinations with strong cultural identities and better international access also offer opportunities.
To support its upscale and luxury growth, BWH Hotels has strengthened its commercial capabilities. The group has created a dedicated worldwide sales division for these segments. Furthermore, WorldHotels continues to expand internationally. Its Crafted sub-brand recently partnered with Norway’s De Historiske. The collection brings together more than 100 hotels, restaurants and ships.
With these developments, WorldHotels Backdrop Italy marks another step in BWH Hotels’ strategy. The group aims to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its position in upscale hospitality.
