Ennismore and ActivumSG Capital Management have signed a long-term management contract to bring Ennismore’s SLS lifestyle brand to Europe. The project is a 490-room hotel on Barcelona’s waterfront for the second half of 2024. The facility will develop on 31,326 square meters, and will overlook the marina on the north-east side of the 22° district of Barcelona. It is the latest beachfront land in the metropolitan area of Barcelona available for hotel development, with major structural work expected to be completed in the coming months. SLS Barcelona will offer a rooftop restaurant and bar, three swimming pools, a 772 square meter ballroom, a spa and gym.
Ennismore and its portfolio of 14 brands represent 92 operating properties in 26 different countries, with over 150 hotels in the pipeline and over 150 restaurants and bars. The project is an investment by ActivumSG’s fifth real estate fund, based in Jersey, as part of a pan-European hotel strategy that ActivumSG initiated in Spain in 2015, targeting market segments with strong growth potential in major travel destinations. According to the RealfinX platform, ActivumSG’s Fund V closed in January 2018 with $ 580.66 million, surpassing its goal of $ 500 million.
The “new” Ennismore was created in 2021 when Ennismore and Accor entered a joint venture to create a new standalone entity, with Accor having a majority stake. The hotels in the Ennismore portfolio currently operating in Italy are the 25Hours Hotel Firenze, the Mama Shelter Rome, and The Hoxton Rome. In the pipeline, on the other hand, there are: the Tribe Milano Malpensa, the Tribe Mestre, the Jo & Joe Roma, The Hoxton Florence and finally the 25Hours Hotel Trieste.
