A&O Hostels, a well-known German hostel chain, has recently bought another property in Berlin, adding a property structure to the portfolio of the chain and its first hotel investment after two years of pandemic. The A&O Berlin Hauptbahnhof (330 keys, 1,000 beds), fourth complex in the German capital, had been rented by the group since 2010, therefore the acquisition came after 12 years of rent. The purchase was financed by DKB Deutsche Kcreditbank. As for the chain’s development plans, Oliver Winter, CEO of the group, says the company is preparing its expansion in southern Europe and already plans new openings in six destinations, including Barcelona, Lisbon, London, Athens, Florence and Rome. The pipeline already known in Italy is the A&O Firenze, 2-star with 140 keys and 500 beds, whose opening is scheduled for the end in the first half of 2023. We remind you that the group is present on domestic soil, in Mestre, where it already has a property of 630 keys in total. Including the Florentine pipeline, the Italian structures in the portfolio of the A&O group would rise to 3, with 770 keys totals.
