Pavilion Hotels & Resorts Expands in Cortina with The First Cortina

Pavilion Hotels & Resorts will open The First Cortina on 4 December, marking its fourth Italian property. The five-star hotel will add 76 keys to the group’s portfolio and strengthen its presence in the Italian luxury hospitality market. The opening comes roughly one year later than initially planned, as the project was originally expected to welcome guests ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The new property will combine accommodation with a broad range of upscale amenities. In particular, it will feature a 1,000-sqm Revivo spa designed in an Alpine style. Furthermore, guests will have access to Zuma, the Japanese restaurant brand, while Velo pastry shop will follow the concept already introduced at The First Dolce in Rome.

Meanwhile, Pavilion Hotels & Resorts already operates three five-star properties in Rome. These include The First Dolce, with 23 keys, The First Arte, with 29, and The First Musica, with 24. One property operates under a lease, while the group directly owns the other two.

With The First Cortina, the company will expand its international platform further. Pavilion Hotels & Resorts currently operates 13 properties across Asia, as well as in Amsterdam, Madrid, France and Italy. The group originally launched in Bali before developing its wider international portfolio.

Cortina’s luxury hotel supply continues to grow rapidly. According to the Luxury Hotels Database, the destination should reach 12 five-star hotels by the end of 2026, with more than 700 rooms. The 2026 Winter Olympics have further accelerated this expansion.

As a result, five new luxury openings have entered the market this year, including rebranding projects. Moreover, three additional properties are expected in 2027: Autograph Collection Concordia Parc Hotel, Accor’s 80-key Bellevue Suites & Spa and the 32-room Italia Cortina. The First Cortina therefore strengthens an increasingly competitive luxury hospitality landscape in the Dolomites.
