Brunet Hotels has launched a major redevelopment project in Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, Trentino, with the ambition of upgrading its hospitality offering from four to five stars. The historic hotel group, founded in 1923, currently operates three properties: Hotel Tressane, Park Hotel Iris and Relais Le Gemme. The complex has temporarily closed to allow extensive renovation works, which will proceed in several phases.
The first phase involves an investment of €11 million to complete the integration of Hotel Tressane and Park Hotel Iris. Although the two properties have operated as a single hotel for several years, they still maintain separate receptions, bars and kitchens. The project will consolidate these facilities and improve operational efficiency. Furthermore, the redevelopment will increase the overall net floor area from 6,900 to more than 7,100 sqm. Plans also include moving the existing outdoor parking underground and relocating the children’s club and wellness facilities. The municipality has already approved the necessary planning exemption.
However, the group’s ambitions extend beyond the initial redevelopment. A subsequent phase will introduce a swimming pool, supporting the repositioning of the entire complex into the five-star segment. Brunet Hotels expects to reopen the property on 1 July 2027.
Meanwhile, the Brunet family has also taken over the management of nearby Hotel Primiero. This move provides alternative accommodation for guests during the renovation period and ensures continuity of employment for permanent staff.
The project forms part of a broader development trend in Primiero San Martino di Castrozza. Indeed, the municipality has also granted preliminary approval for two five-star hotels developed by Peak Properties SPV. The proposed investment could reach €100 million, covering a 120-room family hotel in Pez Gaiart and a second property with 70 rooms in Col. Together, these projects could introduce the destination’s first active luxury hotel offering.
