Musa Hotel Lago di Como is the new 5-star boutique hotel that will integrate the luxury offer in the Lake area of Como. The opening of the facility, located in Sala Comacina, in the province of Como, is scheduled for the 15th of May. The hotel offers 12 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a cocktail bar, as well as an 83 sqm apartment with a view on the lake and equipped with a kitchen. Moreover, the offer includes Villa Musa, a luxurious private residence of 730 sqm located in Mezzegra.

The villa consists of 6 bedrooms, a hot tub and pool overlooking the lake as well as a gym and a fully equipped kitchen. The management of the new facility will be in the hands of Robert Moretti and Matteo Corridori, both executive chefs born and raised on Lake Como, under the guidance of the Gray family, entrepreneurs with 37 years of experience in tourism. According to what emerges from the Luxury Hotels Database by THRENDS, the luxury offer in the destination is composed of 9 hotels (of which 67% independent), for a total of approximately 600 keys. With the opening in May of Musa Hotel Lago di Como, and of villa Passalacqua in late spring this year, the luxury offer will rise to 11 structures, for a total of 629 keys.

The opening of the hotel is planned for 2023 Excelsior Britannia, which will be repositioned as 5-star with 285 keys. According to what emerges from the performance analysis of the panel of the luxury facilities of the destination, independent hotels recorded significantly higher performances compared to chain hotels. However, the pace of growth (CAGR) recorded in the years 2013-2019 of key revenues of chain hotels was almost double (+ 14.4%) compared to that recorded by independent hotels, equal to + 7.4%.

Additionally, chain hotels have seen a downturn of its key revenues in 2020 (compared to 2019) lower and equal to -66%, against -76% of hotels independent. As for the marginality of chain hotels, the latter is affected by fluctuations due to discontinued operations of CastaDiva Resort & SPA that was repositioned as Mandarin Oriental Lake Como. International networks are very present in the destination, as a matter of fact, 7 out of 9 structures both independent and chain, are affiliated to The Leading Hotels of the World, Small Luxury Hotels of the World or Preferred Hotels & Resorts.
