Delta Hotels’ New Ventures in Italy
Delta Hotels, a Marriott brand, has announced four new hotels. Three are in Campania, and one is in Milan. The Campania properties are managed by Pinewood Hotels. These include Resort Marina di Castello in Castel Volturno, a 4-star hotel with 270 rooms; Hotel Plaza Caserta, a 4-star hotel with 312 rooms; and Inn Naples Airport in Gricignano di Aversa, a 3-star hotel with 122 rooms.
Plaza Caserta and Inn Naples Airport are already listed on Marriott’s website as part of the Marriott Bonvoy program. However, these hotels are currently being upgraded to meet Delta Hotels’ standards. They will officially join the “Delta Hotels by Marriott” portfolio by late 2024 or early 2025.
Recent Debuts and Upcoming Projects
Recently, “Delta Hotels by Marriott” debuted in Sardinia with Delta Hotels Olbia Sardinia. Previously branded as “DoubleTree by Hilton,” this hotel offers 124 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, an outdoor pool, and three meeting rooms. Additionally, Delta Hotels is present in Giardini Naxos with Delta Hotels Giardini Naxos, a 4-star hotel with 296 rooms, managed by Russotti Gestioni, Marriott’s largest franchisee in Italy.
Marriott’s Broader Expansion in Italy
Marriott is currently expanding in Italy. Recently, it opened its first AC Hotel in Rome, the AC Hotel Clodio Roma. This 4-star hotel has 103 rooms, is recently renovated, and is located in the Prati district. According to Hoteltransactions.it, Marriott acquired this hotel in 2022 for over 15 million euros.
In Rome’s Monti district, Villino Costanzi was recently sold and will be converted into a Marriott-managed hotel under the “Tribute Portfolio” brand. This new hotel, opening after summer 2025, will have 65 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a patio with a terrace. A Spanish family office acquired this asset from Roman entrepreneur Ferdinando Masciotta.
Future Developments
According to our “Chains Monitor” for the second half of 2023, 21% of the pipeline chain hotels in Italy will be branded by Marriott, Accor, and Radisson. Recently, ACHM by Marriott, the hotel management company for Marriott Group hotels in Europe, announced plans to open over 10 new hotels in the next two years. The chosen locations for this development in Italy are Rome, Turin, and Verona.
