The Gran Baita luxury hotel redevelopment has entered a new phase as demolition works begin in Breuil-Cervinia. The project will bring back to life the historic Gran Baita hotel, which has remained abandoned since a devastating fire in 1973. Moreover, the initiative highlights the growing momentum of luxury hospitality investments across the Aosta Valley, where several developers continue to target high-end mountain destinations.

Vico di Ezio Colliard, also known as Valdostana Imprese Costruzioni, acquired the property between 2023 and 2024. The company has already contributed to major regional hospitality projects, including TH Courmayeur, Le Massif, and VRetreats Cervino. After securing all required permits, the developer started construction activities under the direction of architect Marco Maresca. As a result, the future five-star property will combine contemporary design with architectural elements inspired by the original hotel.

The new resort will feature 135 guestrooms spread across four floors. In addition, guests will enjoy a wellness center with indoor and outdoor pools, three sun terraces, and a fully glazed structure overlooking the Matterhorn. The plans also include 19 private mini-spas with direct room access. Furthermore, the hotel will offer a bar, three restaurants, and two underground levels dedicated to parking and operational facilities.

The Gran Baita luxury hotel redevelopment also preserves an important piece of local history. The original hotel opened in 1937 and quickly became one of the area’s landmark properties. Architect Mario Dezzutti designed its distinctive rounded wing, while Carlo Mollino later expanded the building. Today, the new project intends to reinterpret those historic features while creating a modern luxury destination. The hotel is scheduled to open by the end of 2028. Consequently, the Gran Baita luxury hotel redevelopment will strengthen Breuil-Cervinia’s position within Italy’s upscale mountain hospitality market.
