The investment company HIG Capital has announced that several of its affiliates have pooled their assets to create Ella Hotels & Resorts, a brand that will encompass 13 hotels totaling 4,500 keys. Ella Hotels & Resorts will thus be a hotel group managing a collection of luxury and sustainable lifestyle resorts throughout Southern Europe, primarily in Greece. Ella’s current portfolio is expected to be valued at over 1 billion Euros. The brand aims to further expand into other Mediterranean tourist destinations, focusing on opportunities in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, with the goal of reaching a total of 10,000 keys in its portfolio.
HIG is a globally leading alternative investment company with $60 billion in assets under management, headquartered in Miami. Its current portfolio includes over 100 companies with a combined revenue of over $53 billion.
It’s worth noting that HIG Realty Partners, the real estate investment division of HIG Capital, acquired the Portopiccolo tourist complex in 2020 for €150 million (through InvestiRE SGR), with approximately €36 million allocated solely for the 5-star structure. The sale was made by Rilke Srl (a company controlled by the Rizzani de Eccher Group), which, however, retained a minority stake.
The Falisia Portopiccolo Hotel (TS) has been managed by Minor Hotels since June 2023 under the Tivoli brand, marking Tivoli’s debut in Italy. The hotel was previously operated by PPN Hospitality, which was evicted by the property due to non-compliance issues.
