Executive Chairperson – Malta Planning Authority

Johann Buttigieg is the Executive Chairperson of the Planning Authority, bringing over three decades of experience in planning, public administration, and strategic leadership. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Tourism Authority from 2019 to 2022, following six and a half years as Executive Chairman of the Planning Authority. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in the 2016 reform of Malta’s planning sector and contributed significantly to the Authority’s support of national development and economic growth. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Malta.
