Javier De Villanueva

Senior Executive Director, Acquisitions and Development Europe – Banyan Group

Javier de Villanueva is a seasoned hospitality real estate executive with over a decade of experience spanning hotel investment, acquisitions, development, and strategic advisory across Europe.

Currently serving as Senior Executive Director, Acquisitions and Development Europe at Banyan Group, a position he has held since February 2023, Javier leads the expansion of the group’s hotels and branded residences portfolio across the European market.

Prior to this role, he served as Development Director Iberia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, where he oversaw hotel development and acquisitions across Spain and Portugal.

Javier built a strong foundation in hotel investment and advisory at JLL in Madrid, where as a member of the Spanish Investment Sales team he managed disposal assignments, delivered RICS-compliant valuations, feasibility studies, and buy/sell/hold analyses, while also supporting prospective buyers through complex hospitality transactions.

He began his career as a Strategy Consultant at Deloitte in Barcelona, advising clients in pharma, travel, and leisure on business, commercial, and go-to-market strategies.

Javier holds an Executive MBA from IESE Business School, University of Navarra, one of Europe’s leading business schools. He has also shared his expertise as an Associate Professor at ENEB (Escuela de Negocios Europea de Barcelona), teaching in the areas of real estate, hospitality, franchising, hotel valuation, and investment.
