CEO – Gruppo UNA

Born in 1965, Giorgio Marchegiani began his career in Germany in the financial sector after graduating in Economics at Bocconi University. In 1992 he joined the Italian headquarters of the consulting firm Bain & Company, providing support to the senior management of large European groups in strategic development and restructuring projects and dealing with various sectors, including insurance, automotive, media and private equity.
From 2007 to 2011 he continued working in consulting at Oliver Wyman. In 2011 he joined Fondiaria Sai, later acquired by Unipol, where he held various managerial roles. He started out as head of Agency Networks and Retail & Motor Products, and was later appointed CEO of Liguria Associazioni and Liguria Vita, where he oversaw significant restructuring.
From 2015 to 2021 he returned overseas to take on the role of CEO of DDOR, Serbia’s third-largest insurance company, owned by Gruppo Unipol. During this time he was also Chairman of the Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade.
From 2022 he took over responsibility for UnipolSai’s “Diversified” Business Unit, and in this capacity he was appointed CEO of Gruppo UNA, the largest Italian hotel chain in Italy, and of Tenute del Cerro, a winemaking company.
In 2020 Giorgio Marchegiani was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy by the President of Italy for his contribution to the Italian economy overseas.
