President – Monte dei Paschi di Siena

Nicola Maione has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena since April 20, 2023, and has been a member of the board since 2017.

He has served on the Remuneration Committee and the Related Party Transactions Committee.

From 2020 until April 2023, he was the Chairman of the Nomination Committee, a member of the 231 Supervisory Body (ODV), and the Lead Independent Director.

Since 2018, he has been a Board Member of the Italian Banking Association (ABI), and since May 2023, he has also been a member of the Executive Committee and Vice President of ABI.

Since June 2023, he has been a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Borsa Italiana and a member of the Assonime Executive Committee.

He is a lawyer and the owner of the Maione Law Firm in Rome, which primarily deals with civil and commercial law.

He has held the role of legal advisor in significant corporate restructuring operations, insolvency procedures, and large companies under extraordinary administration.

Appointed in various procedures by the Bankruptcy Court of Rome as a Trustee, Judicial Liquidator, and Judicial Commissioner, and by the Ministry of Economic Development as a Government Commissioner, Judicial Commissioner, and Liquidator of Cooperative Enterprises.

He has developed extensive academic activity in civil and commercial law and is the author of various publications.

In 2012, he was awarded by the National Bar Council for his contributions to the legal profession.

He was previously the Chairman of the ODV 231 for leading companies and is currently the Chairman of the ODV for a company operating in management, engineering, and safety.

He was also a Board Member of Milano Assicurazioni S.p.A. and Prelios Credit Servicing S.p.A.

He served as the Chairman of the Control, Risk and Related Party Transactions Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENAV S.p.A.
