Biography

Massimo Roj, graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1986, is registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Milan.

He began his professional career as a student in 1982, collaborating with several architects including Alberto Spinelli, Roberto Morisi, and Franca Helg, working on building projects in Italy and abroad.

In 1988, he took on the role of Project Architect and Project Manager for a multinational Space Planning company, contributing to the creation of the most advanced software research center in Bitritto-Bari for Olivetti.

In 1994, he founded Progetto CMR in Milan, an integrated design firm now considered one of the top in Italy, applying an interdisciplinary model that combines architecture, engineering, and design, aimed at maximizing efficiency in terms of time, cost, and the final project quality. He provides international consultancy in Urban Planning, Architecture, Space Planning, Interior Design, and Product Design, integrating sustainable strategies into design proposals aligned with the context and clients’ needs.

He is a co-founder of EAN (European Architects Network), an important network of associated studios in major European capitals with over 800 professionals. He is a Visiting Professor at Tianjin University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and the Polytechnic School of Design in Milan. Since 2016, he has been an Ambassador of Italian Design in the World, appointed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, he is a member of the Smart Working Observatory at the Polytechnic University of Milan and a General Advisor at Assoimmobiliare.

In over thirty years of his professional career, he has worked with major Italian and international companies such as Ardian, Air France-KLM, Campari, Canon, Carrefour, Cisco, Coca Cola, Covivio, DHL, Generali, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Huawei, JP Morgan PWC, KPMG, Lendlease, L’Oreal, Martini, Maccaferri, Unipol. He has also collaborated with numerous public and government entities, both in Italy and abroad.

Among the most recent recognitions for Architect Roj are the “Compasso D’Oro ADI 2024” for CELLIA®, the interactive facade module for more efficient and sustainable buildings, and in 2022 in Chicago, the “Award of Excellence” from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat – CTBUH for the De Castillia 23 project in the category of buildings up to 100 meters in height.
