Gonzalo joined Azora in 2014 and is responsible for hospitality and leisure investments at Azora.
During his career at Azora, Gonzalo has successfully led the acquisitions of more than 55 hotels and 15,000 hotel keys across Europe, totaling more than €1.7 billion, working with leading domestic and international hotel operators and including the acquisitions of 16 hotels to Barceló Group, 7 hotels to MedPlaya or the joint-venture signed with Palladium Group, among many others. He has also led the disposal of several hotel assets in Europe and participated in the disposal of Hispania to Blackstone.
Prior to joining Azora in 2014, Gonzalo was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML) in the Madrid office, spending almost two years in BAML’s IBK Real Estate & Lodging team in the London office, and also worked for Deloitte. Gonzalo had a critical role in the coverage of BAML’s key accounts in Spain with great exposure to Real Estate, Leisure, TMT and energy sectors, and executed a wide variety of M&A, debt and equities transactions such as the acquisitions of Cimpor by Camargo Correa and e-plus by Telefónica, the merger of Iberdrola and Iberdrola Renovables, the sales of O2 Ireland to Hutchison, seven InterContinental hotels to Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds and ENCE’s operations in Uruguay to Stora Enso / Arauco, and the IPO of Telefónica Deutschland AG and Atlas Estates, among many others.
Gonzalo holds a degree in business administration and management and an MBA from ESADE University in Barcelona.
