After over 40 years of experience in luxury hospitality industry, Maurizio Saccani is now managing the operations of Rocco Forte Hotels, a privately owned company that owns or operates thirteen five star iconic hotels in Europe such as the Brown’s in London and the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Maurizio is also playing a major role in the company ambitious development projects, especially in Italy where in the last twelve months only RF Hotels has acquired the Villa Igiea in Palermo and has opened the Hotel de la Ville, in Rome, and the Masseria Torre Maizza in the heart of Puglia.

Maurizio Saccani started his career in the 70’s when, after a period of apprenticeship in some of the most renowned hotels in Europe, he joined the Hotel Cipriani, Venice the first of the “Orient Express” then “Belmond” Hotels, a company where he successfully served for over 30 years in various management positions until in 2007 he became Executive Vice President, Italy & Spain and Chief of Product Development worldwide.

Besides the Cipriani, the company owned and operated 48 landmark hotels and luxury trains such as the Copacabana Palace in Rio, the Mount Nelson in Cape Town, the Hotel Splendido in Portofino and the Venice Simplon Orient-Express train.
Maurizio Saccani was for seven years member of the International Marketing Committee of the Leading Hotels of the World and was recently awarded a Master “honoris causa” in Economy and Tourism Management by the Ca’ Foscari University, Venice.
